San Fermín 2026 Complete Guide – Everything you need to know
San Fermín is much more than bulls. It is music, emotion, gastronomy, tradition, and above all, a unique experience. In this guide, we tell you EVERYTHING you need to know to enjoy San Fermín 2026 to the fullest, whether for the first time or as a veteran. What I am going to tell you here does not appear in generic guides; it is what I have learned after years of managing the dreams of thousands of visitors.
Brief history of San Fermín
What started as a festivity in honor of the patron saint of Navarre became, over the centuries, a world-famous event. Today, the festive spirit and centuries-old traditions are still alive from July 6 to 14, with Pamplona as the epicenter of an unparalleled cultural explosion.
If you are looking for the San Fermín 2026 program, the running of the bulls schedule, the bullfight posters, the main concerts, or simply want to know when everything starts and ends, you are in the right place. Furthermore, if you want to experience San Fermín in a different way—for example, from a private balcony, with guided tours, or exclusive gastronomic experiences—we also tell you how to do it.
When does San Fermín 2026 start? Dates and key moments
If there is something sacred in Navarre, it is the July calendar. Unlike other festivities that change according to the weekend, San Fermín is immovable. It doesn’t matter if it’s Monday or Sunday; the party has its rules.
-
Chupinazo – start of the festivities (July 6 at 12:00 PM): The San Fermín festivities officially begin on Sunday, July 6 at 12:00 noon, with the famous Chupinazo from the balcony of the Pamplona City Hall.
-
Pobre de mí – end of the festivities (July 15 at 12:00 AM): The end arrives with the emotional “Pobre de mí” event, on Monday, July 15 at 12:00 AM (midnight), also in the Town Hall Square, where thousands of people say goodbye to the festivities with candles and raised red scarves.
San Fermín Running of the Bulls (Encierros)
If there is one moment that defines these festivities, it is the San Fermín running of the bulls.
The run consists of running in front of six wild bulls and six steers (tame bulls that guide the herd) along an 875-meter fenced route. The goal is to move the animals from the Santo Domingo Corrals to the Bullring.
Better to watch it or run it? It is not a game or a harmless tourist attraction; it is a ritual of extreme risk where expert runners risk their lives. If it is your first time at San Fermín 2026, my professional advice is blunt: enjoy it watching, not running, at least until you know the dynamics well. But beware, what you see on television lasts only a few minutes, and on the street, you will barely see them pass through the crowd.
There is the availability of balconies that are rented to watch the run comfortably and from a wide perspective.
